On January 30, 2008, an Italian citizen involved in a car accident in Cairo, Egypt, suffered severe polytrauma.
Within twenty-four hours, a medicalized plane departed from Milan, reaching the compatriot and airlifting them to Rome.
This marked the inaugural mission accomplished by Air Medical Service staff.
Today, after 15 years, with over 5,800 missions and more than 6,800 patients airlifted, the enthusiasm that drives the team remains as strong as it was on January 30, 15 years ago.
